Cheer Up

Well what a year it's been so far.

The chaos in our government has gotten so bad that it can't even vote to fund itself.

The people responsible are blaming each other like children.

The executive branch is sending out its serial liars to do what they always do: blame Hillary or Obama, so they can never ever accept any responsibility for what happened because of their actions and to always claim credit for the good things they have had nothing to do with. They expect the American people to be so dumb that they don't know the truth and will just listen to what they say. They expect that the American people are so distracted by the stupidity they constantly spew that they cannot take the time to read and learn the truth.

A nuclear attack is announced on the island of Hawaii, and it turns out a worker pushed the wrong button - twice! Then he keeps his job. Then everyone blames everyone else.

Children who came to our country illegally out of fear for their lives, but have lived here for decades, studied hard, gotten jobs, paid taxes, contributed mightily to our economy are told they are not worth a debate or vote by our government.

Our president calls an entire continent and several other countries "shit hole countries."

I could go on and on, but that's not the point of this blog.

The point is we need to cheer up.

We need to take joy in the goodness of man and women.

Stories of people donating kidneys, saving children, volunteering at homeless shelters and food pantries, helping those who have suffered in floods or wildfires are abundant if you look for them.

I believe there are more good people than bad.

They just don't grab the headlines or the facebooks or the instagrams or the tweets or the news outlets.

Do what you can to change this. If you do, you will cheer up.

The 2018 United States elections will mostly be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. These midterm elections will take place in the middle of President Donald Trump's term. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested.

Show up in force.

Vote for the country that has been an inspiration to the world most of the time since 1776.

The country that has the ideals that all men (and women) are created equal.

To quote the United States constitution:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

I am happy to live in the United States.

A country where it seemed that people who were being discriminated against were finally making progress to achieving what our founders had in mind for them: equal rights.

We have taken a long step backwards from the forefather's dreams.

I think it is temporary.

I think the good people who have known what it is like to work yourself up from poverty to wealth and success don't want to stop others from doing the same.

I believe the women in this country will stand up on November 6, 2018 and finally be heard so loudly that they will elect people who actually have a conscience and won't constantly lie to the country to engorge themselves with more money while hurting those who have little.

And I will be excitedly exercising my right to vote with them.

Me too.

I will be happy.
